Jehovah Jirah, Our God Who Provides
The Zoom conference call between the SIU team and the foundation board was filled with the Spirit with much humility, honor, and respect (and some fun humor as well). The foundation board listened intently as our SIU field leads shared what is happening in their regions, retold stories passed to them by our international partners, and spoke of their vision for reaching more unreached people groups. The foundation leadership asked good questions which led to good dialogue and better understanding of each organization’s focus and passion. We share a deep commitment to the advancement of the Kingdom of God. They offered good suggestions for improving our efforts in the field with our partners and gave suggestions for better communication between our two organizations. When asked what we needed, we shared our recent aggressive investment in training grants to our trusted international partners, then we suggested a ballpark grant award. The call ended with prayer. Both organizations went away with lifted spirits and encouraged hearts and minds.
A few days later, I received a follow-up phone call from the Foundation Board Chair. After greetings and some fun banter, he shared heartfelt appreciation for our team and our time together a few days earlier. Then he announced their decision to award a matching grant of $150,000 to SIU! This news brought much joy to my heart and tears to my eyes. As I thanked this faithful leader and their Board members, we ended the phone call praising our Great God. This is the largest matching gift between our organizations to date and will serve to advance God’s Kingdom! This scripture passage came to mind as I approached the SIU team with this incredibly good news:
“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” Matthew 7:9-11 (NIV)
$150,000 Matching Gift Fund
Our God is so faithful…Always! We are thankful for this generous matching gift challenge. Would you consider joining us by giving an undesignated gift toward the $150,000 Matching Gift fund? Any amount will make a difference and help us meet this challenge. Your gift, matched by this faithful foundation, will allow us to further serve our proven international partners and together work for the advancement of God’s Kingdom among the unreached.
