We Must Embrace Change

God, His Word, and the Good News of the Gospel are unchanging, the same today, yesterday, and forever. However, we must “embrace” change. We must adapt, adjust and change. We are instructed to be transformed and changed into the likeness and image of Christ. In Romans 12:2 (NLT), the Lord directs us:

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

The Lord also says in Isaiah 43:19 (NLT):

“For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?”

This new season is not a surprise to our Lord, and he is clearly allowing it. Every people, tribe, tongue, and nation are impacted by the global pandemic. We were already faced with many challenges and difficulties in life and ministry before this pandemic. We simply must continue to look to Him and allow His Holy Spirit to lead us. The Lord will lead us to new ways of sharing and spreading the Gospel if we are willing to adapt, adjust and change.

Adapt, Adjust and Change

Some of our overseas SIU partners and some of our U.S. based SIU trainers are exploring and testing the use of “Virtual Bridges Trainings” using video conferencing platforms, such as Zoom. It is not easy to replicate and emulate what we have been doing for the past 33 years around the globe with SIU’s training and equipping approach. It is impossible to digitally reproduce what happens in a group of 25-30 participants who are physically together over four or five days, interactively learning, sharing, eating, dramatizing, and role playing. However, we are excited to see how the Lord will use this season of change to further His eternal Kingdom. Story is the language of the Heart and it can be delivered in many ways and the Word of God does not come back void.

We are most definitely in a “new normal,” a “restart,” a “refresh.” So, where are you in it? Are you embracing change or resisting it? Do you welcome it or run from it?
